Hi I just got a new 7mm rem mag and want to take it deer hunting. I don't have a whole lot of time for load development so I want to know what you guys would try or what works for you... I have on hand Barnes TTSX 140 and Accubond 160 as for powder I have (that would work in 7RM) Retumbo, RL22, RL25, Win760, IMR 4350, IMR 7828. Winchester cases and CCI 250s.

Thanks in advance

had some very good results with IMR 4350 and some 150g
watch for pressure signs the magnums are not very forgiving for over pressure
load for accuracy
the 140 or the 160 will get the job done

I load my 7mm with 140gr TSX over a load of 66gr of RL22. This load for me shoots about 3/4" 3-shot group at 100yds with a Rem 700. I also load Nosler 120gr ballistic tips with 71gr of RL22 and shoots about 3/4-1" groups. This is reloder's manuals MAX gr listings from Nosler and Barnes. Start low and work up for grain increments.

Me too. After trying RL22 ( which was good too) I went back to IMR 4350. I can use either 140gr or 150gr. I think with the 140's that I am shooting now I use 62.1 grains. Through my Tikka they are shooting going around 3100 fsp, my groups are very tight. This load has been excellent for hunting deer and black bear.

I have used the following with success in the 7mm RM:

IMR4350; RL22; H870 and my current load is IMR7828 with 160gr Accubonds.

R22 works well for the 7 mag, I have found that retumbo is great with 160 accubonds in my rifle with .5''-.7'' accuracy I get 3100fps.

John - have you actually chronograpehd those loads, and if so what length barrel are you using. That is a couple of hundred feet per second faster than I have gotten in a 7 Rem Mag so will try Retumbo if those kinds of speeds are doable. That is right up there with what my 7 Ultra Mag pushes a 160. Thanks.

In my Model 70 I use 72.5 of Retumbo with 154 Hornady Interlocks or SST. Shoots under 1" at 100 m. I spent alot of cash on powders, this is what she likes the best out of them all. Also 68 g of H4350 for Hornady 100's. Shoots under 1.5 " at 100m, but your best to work up your own recipe.
