Hi all,

I have agreed to do up some hunting loads for a friend with a Browning A-Bolt in 7mm Rem Mag using Sierra 150gr HPBT's and in reviewing my Sierra reloading manual do not have this particular bullet weight listed.

I am hoping that someone might have developed a pretty nice load for this particular bullet and cartridge combo and would be willing to share it with me (and others of course!)

Anybody?

Thanks, Bob

Matchkings? they're for paper targets not deer/moose

Thanks for the tip, they are matchkings and they are what he has supplied but given your advice I think I will tell him to use them for target practice.

Any developed loads for them?

And what would you recommend for a hunting load? 160gr or 175gr? For both deer and moose?

Appreciate the wisdom!

Bob

My brother bought some 140 gr TSX's for the 7RM, we haven't tried to work up a load with them yet though, I have some Re22 I might try it out.

I've been loading 160 gr Acubonds for hunting with my 7RM, have a nice load using IMR7828 and will be hunting moose with them in September.

"...reloading manual do not have this particular bullet weight listed..." Load for the bullet weight. Who made 'em doesn't matter. Hodgdon's site has lots of 150 grain 7mm Mag loads. However, like todbartell says, they're not suitable for hunting anything but varmints. Sierra does make a 150 grain Gameking that'll do nicely.
The 160 will be dandy for both deer and moose.
Of course, you'll have to work up the load. 61.0 grains of IMR4350 is given for the accuracy with a 160 load in my old Lyman book. I'd use the 4350 for 150's too. 54.0 to 63.0.

Thanks for the load suggestions folks, I have some IMR 4350 so will attempt to work up something with it. I think I heard somewhere to start low and increase in 1 grain increments until you get one that gives some consistency and then work around that in smaller and smaller increments until you max the accuracy.

So... based upon what Sunray and others are saying I will start with 54.0 and move up until I find a load the gun likes holding in mind the 63.0 limit and watching for signs of pressure.

I appreciate the help on this so far and if anyone has any more advice or guidance please chime in.

Cheers, Bob

With cartridges of the case capacity of the 7mmremmag,I never bother with increments smaller than 1/2 grain.
