Anybody else have pretty good results with the sierra bullets in their 7-08? Accuracy wise they have pretty good for me. I have only shot one deer with the 140 gr bullet, and have a recipe for 160grn which seems very promising. (3 within an inch at 100 yards)

It just seems that my stevens 200 likes sierra bullets. Especially Boat tails.

My stevens 200 in 22-250 shoots sierras accurately too.

I have never used them in a 7-08 but You will find that Sierra hunting bullets shoot very well in most rifles and their Match bullets have a long following in competition circles everywhere. They are conventional in design ans may seem boring in comparison to alot of the high tech bullets out today but they get the job done as they have for many years, if they shoot well in your rifle and you use the proper weight and style you will not be dissapointed. Most of the game I have shot has been with Sierra's and they have never let me down, I also started to use them because they shot so well. The 160's is what I used to use in my 7mm RM they are a little heavy for your 08 but if you can get top speed and accuracy then by all means don't look back, they will do everything you ask of them.

I had very good results in accuracy with 160 gr. in my 7mm-08 but decided to find something else in a 140 gr. bullet instead. I also thought the 160 gr bullets would be a little heavy for this cartridge as bigbull mentioned...

Ken Waters has some great recipes for the 7-08. I have a 700BDL with a 6.5X20 Leupold target. It shoots one hole groups at 100M with IMR 4895 or even the old Higginson #45 and 139 BTSP Hornady as well as the 140 Nosler Partiton. Every deer and caribou has fallen where it was hit! The Partitions tend to disintergrate while the Hornady barrel all the way through! The 7-08 was never designed for the 162 Gr bullets. You can't stick the bullet far unoff out of the case for most mags. I made some loads but the 139 were deadly sans the 162 bullet nose dents! I also have some great loads in 100gr Spitzers at 3450 fps chrono at 3 feet. These are 3/4 inch at 100M. They are deadly on woodchucks (gophers).

Best regards,
Henry
I got to get some time to handload again!;)

Sierra bullets are some of the most accurate bullets I've ever used. But after a spectacular failure with some .270 130 gr Game Kings many many years ago on a big moose I won't touch them for anything that moves. Nosler Partitions, Barnes X or Hornady Interlock are all I use for game hunting.

Are we talking about hunting bullets here? How accurate do you NEED to be, anyway? I think accuracy is a tertiary consideration for hunting bullets. Target shooting - it's hard to beat the Sierra MK's
