I have some items for reloading 7mm08, dies, and brass.

I need to know what are the best powders, bullet weights, and primers?

I never reloaded before but have had most of the components at one time or another, and sold them. The gun shows are coming up so I would like to have a shopping list ready.

First off- get yourself some R15. Good velocities, really good accuracy, doesn't seem to be picky at all. I've been shooting hornady 139 flat bases for a while, but I'm starting to think that a 120 TSX might be even better. I played around with H-380, 4895, Varget and H 414. everything hovered around 1.25-1.50. Then I found R15, and things went to .75, with nice round groups.
I stopped messing around and started hunting.

OK what is R15 and where do I get specefications for this powder, and who sells it?
I have a reloading book and it doesn't mention R15 is it new?

Also is it a powder that is easy to make mistakes?

Meaning can you double charge the powder by mistake?

Should I go for a bulky powder so I don't make mistakes?

R15 is Reloader 15...it is a medium burn rate stick powder that will fill the bill nicely, you could not get a double charge in the case of a 7mm08. But good reloading practice by you should always include a visual inspection of all cases once they are loaded with powder.

The way I do it is to charge ALL of my cases and place them in a loading block....then take a small flashlight and visually look into the case necks....see if they are similar....If one looks low or high...dump it and weigh the charge.

I never rely soley on my powder measure. If for instance I am loading 45.5 grains for my 7mm08. I will get my powder measure to throw about 45 grns...then I trickle the rest of the charge up to weight using a powder trickler....you can use a small measuring spoon if you like.

Here is a link to Reloader 15....made by Alliante

A very good bullet weight to start working up nice loads with is the 140-145 grain bullet.....as for primers....I have always used cci BR2 primers...they are made by CCI the BR stands for bench rest...they are hand sorted for consistancy and have provided me with the best groups I have ever experienced

As or Powder....very good results with Hodgdons H414....get a good manual and READ it........learn the right way to load, and you follow that procedure step by step EVERY time.

I'll have to try this R15.
Myself I am using Varget (can't remember the amount but .5 gr less than max) with a 139 gr Hornady BTSP, I haven't put much on paper but I was getting 1.5" at 300yd (or .5 MOA)
I am shooting a Tikka T3 lite with an Elite 4200 2.5-10X40
