Judt bought a Kimber in 7-mm08. Thought 140 grain fodder would be about right for Whitetails. Question is Nosler Partition or Ballistic tip???? Thanks, aany advice would be most welcome.
For deer either/or will get the job done.
I have used 150gr Swift sciroccos in my 280 for deer which also worked fine.IMO premium bullets are not needed for deer, but I do prefer them.
x2 on Partition, but look at Barnes, Sierra, and others for the best accuracy / velocity . It may take a bit of time, but the right combo will make it all worth while. Areas to look at, weight, shape (BC) , and expansion.
I have a Kimber also, great rifles you will love it and very accurate generally.
I have shot the 7-08 in the 84 and it is a sweet package. I would look for something in the 140-150 range for deer in a conventional bullet, unless your shooting ranges are usually less than 100yds you won't need a premium bullet. If long range ballistics are what you are after look at boat tail bullets, try the Nosler Accubond, this bullet will double as a short range bullet also thanks to it's bonded core, I like the Interbond also but Hornady got stupid and increased their prices some 50% from last year so I only buy the Accubonds now.
