7prc hype ?

Kids won't recognize threads ........ huh?
Should make one for what old Fudds don't recognize..........me....................thinks.............

Sure seing alot of 7mm prc rifles for sale . for the amount of time they have bin out..
Are they just not what hornady is advertising?

Not slagging the calliber. Just wondering why guys are selling them of so soon.

Why would anyone purchase any PRC cartridge? Many cartridges long before had it covered.

Ive had a few built and it’s an excellent cartridge, easy to load for, if your a velocity hound I will say the cartridge performs better on a 24” barrel or longer, if you shoot lots it needs a brake as with 175/180gr bullets tend to wear on you,

for everyday hunting I prefer not to use a brake, one of the reasons I’m looking forward to my new rifle chambered in 7mm-6.5 PRCW,

I love the 280AI as it’s a nice balance of performance with moderate recoil so I’m thinking the new cartridge will be excellent as well.

As far as people selling them I’m sure it’s just that time of year, you always see an abundance of rifles for sale this time of year.

Why would they not ?
I have a 7mm RM Mag, 280 AI, 28 Nosler, 2 - 7 SAUMs, 2 - 7 PRC,s which one do you think is the easiest to get good ammunition for ? (7 PRC)
The 7 PRC is super easy to load for as well. I have all the PRC,s and they are all easy to get Good ammunition for and all super accurate I have no issue
With any new caliber - I enjoy some of the older cartridges as well as the new cartridges- what’s wrong with that ?

Well you are right in a sense…..if everyone had this mindset though we would be hunting with a 7x57 or 7mm Mauser since 1893 no need to change right !
We all could be driving a model T as well !

One thing if you look at the Hornady sponsored cartridges they tend to be very well supported with factory ammo and with aftermarket brass, this isn’t by fluke either, simply put they are excellent designed cartridges.

I love new cartridges, it’s fun loading for them, shooting and testing different barrel lengths, bullets, powders, primers.

Besides just trying something new and the "easy button" it becomes for rifles, ammo, components etc, it seems like there really are some niche applications for it that not everyone needs to take advantage of. But they do exist.

Belted mags are some kind of problem or something...I'm not sure lol. Short actions were also the only way to get accurate rifles but now that seems to have passed as all the PRC require long actions.
The faster twists are nice in the PRC's, not sure how much people actually take advantage of it though.
Remington 700 Long Range comes in an 8 twist now... didn't really need to cartridges, just faster twists lol

I've read on 24hr Campfire that some people were disappointed with velocity claims. Some said it's a 280rem P+ 175gr around 2780 fps.

My Nexus with 24” 7 PRC barrel is 2987 FPS (Garmin XERO) with 175 ELDX under .5 MOA with my reloads not pushing it to hard - I would say it’s doing okay.

That can be said for just about every factory ammo claims, one of the biggest was my 7mm Weatherby factory claims 3200 fps in my 24” barrel, 2950 !!!
My 24 inch 1-8 twist Benchmark barrel was running 40 fps slower than all three factory Hornady offerings in 7mm PRC so not terrible really.

I know exactly where you are coming from, I really enjoy load development. I was out to the range this past Tuesday, conducting new loads. However, with the recent innovative cartridges, hence the WSM, I don't see any great improvements. Many are ballistic twins to very old cartridges, some take a little more, or less powder.....meh! I'm an old Fudd and love the older cartridges.

I agree. At the same time marketing for the PRC's was/is getting match grade performance right over the counter.

Some of the things I've read on 24hr was that some ammo was loaded properly (close to advertised velocity) and other batches not so much.

It's odd when manufacturers do that. Sometimes you have some cartridges loaded so well that its hard to match factory velocity(338 Federal/ 325 wsm come to mind). Then you have old cartridges under loaded due to older rifles being around. I don't see reason for PRC's to be under loaded/not as advertised when you have modern rifles for the specific modern cartridge.
