I have a friend who has a pre-7mm 7x61 Super and is looking for brass and bullets to reload within Canada. Anyone know where he might be able to lay his hands on some? His next option is to re-chamber the rifle, which he doesn't want to do unless he has to.

Gun shows. European importers maybe. If he's a handloader (or you know someone who is), you can make the brass from basic belted magnum stock, it's not that hard. - dan

I've just recently acquired a 7x61 S&H in a M-68DL Schultz & Larsen and along the way, I've been picking up loaded ammo and brass at gun shows, in addition to what I got with the rifle.
7x61 S&H and the 7x61 Super are one and the same. The primary difference is the metallurgy change and thinner brass in the improvement distinguished by the head stamp 7x61 Super. This was brought about to increase case capacity. As far as the bullets are concerned, they are the standard 7mm/.284 diameter obtainable virtually every where.
There is a bit of brass 'floating' around. I believe it is still available from Norma so perhaps contact a Norma distributor. Baring that, and as dan belisle has indicated, it can be formed from a number of belted magnum cases. In P.O. Ackleys Handbook For Shooters & Reloaders, the author makes mention of necking down and shortening 300 H&H brass.

There is some available at Bashaw Sports Center, Bashaw Alberta, Norma unprimed.(780 )372 4440. Or at least it was there 2 months back.
