I have apparently come into a SAKO (Finland) Mosnin Nagant chambered in 8.2x53r. Should be shipped my way late next week. Anybody here own one of these & willing to share some first hand experience and load data? GOOGLE hasn't been real helpful. I understand at some point there was a ban or restriction on bullets smaller than 8mm in Finland - I found pictures of factory loaded ammo on a Fin website but since I don't speak the language - not terribly helpful.

I had a brief back 'n forth with CGN member Smellie about sizing for these - doesn't sound TOO bad but this is a pretty significant departure from my usual plug & play comfort area...

Input appreciated.

7.62x54R necked up to use .323" bullets. IIRC there was a law makeing 8mm minimum size for elk. There was also a .25 and .27 made on the 7.62x54R.

Should be easy to load for. A 325 WSM die set will come in handy.

- open up the neck of the 7.62X54R brass with the 325 WSM F/L sizer;
- anneal the neck and shoulder;
- load using 7.62X54R data (and then some if you think you need max loads);
- neck size with the 325 dies, and when it won't chamber anymore, F/L size with the 7.62X54R dies; and
- repeat the first step.
