so...i always thought you can buy a longer barrel and swap the short barrel from your grizzly.....But, i just relized that the barrel plug once holds the barrel in place can no only acommand the new barrel...
So, anyway i can make this work?
The 8.5 is for that bbl only, no swapping. the 12.5 will take any of the longer bbls due to the mounting point. Keep the 8.5 & buy the 12.5 coming to Canada Ammo soon.
It would probably be more than $300, as thats the price of a production piece. He estimated about $600 for a custom bbl for my Benelli. Would swapping a standard 4 rd. mag tube off an 870/grizz do the trick? seems like thats the only difference. But I must asky why? the 8.5 is a novelty all its own and longer bbl models are available from the same manufacturer for less. Let us know how it works out anyways, I love modding guns as much as shooting them
I've thought about getting a kit of barrels for one SG receiver. Right now I have an 870 express with an 18" bbl and a 12"bbl, and I have an 8.5 grizz.
But what If you could have something like that with just one receiver? A-la-Memmington MCS!
A request for a 12.5", 14", or 18" barrel based on a mag-tube length of the 8.5 grizz is indeed "custom" but I wouldnt think that placing the mag-tube ring a couple inches forward or back would merit hundreds of dollars of difference.
Dlask produces new manufacture 870 barrels from 6.5" (shorter mag tube then the grizz) up to the standard mag-tube length with their 12.5" and 14" barrels.
It would be possible to run any standard 870 bbl by replacing the mag tube with a standard length one. Alternatively you could likely have the ring moved but that would be more work and expense.
