8.5" tube fed

You guys do realize it's got something like 2 round mag capacity?

Why not go for the 12.5 or if you really need to have an "uber shorty shotty" go with the mag fed?

you get 3 if you change the follower to a shorter metal one and take the extra plastic out then remove the dempil. You can do it with the orginal follower but it likes to get stuck in the end.

I wanted a 8.5" as well, ended up going with the 12.5". I got a chance to handle the two of them before I made my choice and im glad I did because I found the 8.5" so short it was dangerous. In racking forward I found my thumb could quite easily end up in front of the barrel. Under normal circumstances it would probably be easy to control that and operate it safe but since I was buying it for defense I didn't want to chance my thumb getting blown of by accident in a stressful situation. The 12.5" I don't have to worry about that and its still very short, iv also heard you can change the stock and have it almost the same OAL as the 8.5"

I have 8.5 & 12.5 pump guns (both remingtons). I agree the 8.5 pump is a little short and a bit of extra care and attention is needed when aggressively racking the slide but there are ways to mitigate it. Depending on the style of foregrip you can attach a pistol grip, a handstop or simply a strap that your hand fits in.

The advantage of the 8.5 is its compactness. Put a short LOP Hogue stock on it (still measures 27" overall) and it fits anywhere on your atv / canoe, pack or snowmobile. It certainly makes it attractive when compactness is desired for carrying in the wilderness.

YMMV
