Took the training course at Phoenix here in Edmonton this weekend with 8 other good folks. It was a great time.

David S. was an absolutely awesome guy and instructor, thanks for that! And to Matt for helping out on short notice.

Congrats to Miles (Glock 17), Greg (SP01 Shadow), Roy (Kimber .45), Barry (SIG 226, I forget but think 9mm), Carla (POS awful Walther 9mm that gave her issues all weekend, I understand the purchase of an SP01 Shadow was made before leaving) , Ed (STI .40) & Louise (SP01 Shadow).

Kent who thinks it was a little funny seeing so many Shadows including my own.
 
Hey Redhouse! Was a fun course and was glad to be out there shooting with you and everyone else :)

And definitely second the kudos to Dave and Matt for sure!
 
Way to go IPSC Black badge guys. Definitely get your asses to a competition next summer to see how much fun it actually is! A lot of people take the black badge intending to compete and just never get around to it.

why wait for summer? there is an indoor match in January at Phoenix! while indoor matches are not as much fun as out door matches they are still fun.
 
Fair enough, as long as one doesn't make their mind entirely up about the fun of action pistol based on the indoor matches (as you said, fun... not as fun).
 
Just for the newbies wondering why the difference. At indoor matches you have a lot less room and you have very restricted angles of fires (everything has to go into the back stop, you cannot use the floor or the side wall unless you have bullet traps.) out doors is way more room, you are not concerned about rounds going into the dirt but you do have to make sure that all of your rounds stay within the confines of the bay which is usually pretty easy to do.

It's all fun so hopefully we will see you at a match soon
 
Definitely plan on being at the one at Phoenix for sure, and it also my intention to be out to as many of the outdoors ones this coming summer. definitely look forward to traveling to different place, and meeting lots of people!
 
Make sure you get your membership forms in sooner rather than later, especially if you are intending on shooting the Phoenix match in January. Also ensure you are registered on the IPSC Alberta website, once your form arrives you'll get access to the private members only section.
 
I'm sorta confused by this....I have my membership application form, but don't want to pay for 2010 at this point....though I'll pay for '11 as soon as the rate is made known. I applied to IPSC Alberta forum (same name) but never got contacted back. I feel like I'm stuck in Catch-22, do I fax in the form even though I'm not paying?


****EDIT*** never mind, found the 2011 form and will submit.

The reason you aren't activated on the forums yet is because your membership form isn't here yet :) Even if you had sent in a 2010 membership form your membership is good for the remainder of this year (not that there are any more matches) and all of next year. Your black badge instructor should have explained all of that.
 
All Black Badge Students in Alberta who take their course after July 1 automatically get the rest of the year plus all of the next year. this has been IPSC Alberta's policy for at least the past 12 years.
 
Just got the list of people who took the BB course with Dave, I've activated the one person on the forums who was registered from that course :)

Hmm I assumed you meant me since I am registered, but I haven't gotten an email saying I'm approved and I couldn't log in to the private forums part either :(

No, meant the person who was waiting on activation, just added you to the private members section though so you're good to go :)
