858 Broken Bolt

I was sighting in my red dot at the range today. Maybe 30 rounds fired, and I got a nasty jam when the first round from a mag failed to feed. I unjammed it, popped the mag back in, fired once, then jammed again. Again, I cleared it, and the 4th round fired, and it jammed on the 5th.

After inspecting my rifle, I noticed the bolt was broken. Left side. That explains why the 1,3,5 rounds were jamming. Anyone else ever have this issue? I just want to make sure this isn't a thing now.

Should look like this:

Luckily the piece that snapped off didn't end up damaging anything. I found it on the floor. Probably dropped out of the magwell.

The owner of the shop that I bought it from is away until next week, so looks like I'm without my 858 until then. Hopefully no zombie outbreak happens.

Wow that is a shame. I know a few people with these rifles an have never heard of a broken bolt. Luckily the one time I had a warranty issue with my 858 it was repaired and back in 2 weeks

there was a fella a few years ago on here, his locking block broke in half.
he said about 5k rounds down the pipe. the only other broken stuff i am aware of, is this and a couple of busted gas pistons

I noticed the edge of the broken tab was worn down a little, so took a look at the chamber head.

You can see a mark from the bolt making contact in that same spot. I guess something is out of alignment (headspace? poorly made bolt?). I guess if she was going to break, it was going to happen with a relatively low round count.

There's bound to be a bad rifle put out every once in a while I suppose. I just hope I can get this rectified soon. I love my 858.

That's a shame. These rifles are fantastic and as you said, there are always lemons among them. Hope you get it sorted out.

They are fantastic rifles indeed. I love my 858. Even though this occurred, I'm still really confident in their build quality. I've already emailed wolverine to inquire about warranty claims. One way or another I'm sure I'll be looked after. I just found it odd to get a failure like this.

is this a 7.62 or a 5.56?

CZ 858 - 7.62

Wolverine got back to me today advising I wait until the shop owner comes back to save on shipping, but told me they'll deal with it.

I guess I'll get to taking all my aftermarket goodness off of it and returning it to stock. This sucks because I really had to modify my new handguard to fit this rifle.
