Looking to replace my 858 handguard, right now its truck-bed lined but it gets effing hot. Any suggestions as to which is the best? I'm thinking FAB looks the coolest. Also thinking about a muzzle brake, prob the crusader from wolverine. also gonna go with the mag conversion a bit later on, and then eventually a stock, haven't decided which style looks best yet.

any input on the handguard and brake for now would be appreciated.

If anyone has a used one you're looking to part with please PM me

NEA makes some nice stuff for the 858. i have the upper and lower(gen 1 lower) and a hybrid flash hider/brake. all good stuff! i would, however, get the gen 2 lower if i could do it again...maybe when my wife forgets how much ive spent this year already...;)

The traditional muzzle brake is great for reducing most of the muzzle climb. But it's loud as heck of course, so make sure you have ear protection.
FAB is what I have and the bottom rail helps for foregrips of course. My top rail red dot has never lost zero either.
If you have the cash tho the aluminum guards would probably be my next mod.

I don't have a picture right now I'm at work but I'll post one later. My setup is NEA handguards, stock adapter (AR stock) and their Barrel Clamp. All three of them sit on the same plane, so for sights I have an Eotech 512 and troy folding battle sights.

It all cost me the same as the rifle but it's well worth it and my CZ-858 project is finished.

Get the NEA top handguard. Save your cash and just paint the stock lower to match unless you want to hang junk/stuff off of it. I found the aluminium lowers retained to much heat when sending lots of bullets down range. Get a rear peep sight put on a red dot, get a ambi mag release, see Broncoo about another handle welded on your bolt and you should be ready to rock and roll

awesome info, thanks.

i went to town on my sks and now it weighs 16 pounds with all its junk on and i want to keep this one light. That's why i'm thinking the fab polymer grip, but the NEA upper allows iron sight usage.

My main concerns are that i can still see the sights and that its not gonna add eight million pounds and i won't burn my hand after a little rapid fire. the factory handguards are just a little small and get hot as hell and i accidentally touch metal all the time, something a little bigger would be nice

Get the Fab pistol grip you'll love it compared to the factory grip.

As for the handguards i think the Fab ones are ugly, I run NEA myself.

picked up the fab pistol grip today and currently in negotiations for a mag adapter, woo! now just a muzzle break and those NEA gen 2 hand guards!

I'm gonna do some serious pondering on a stock before i choose one. Thanks for all the input
