870 barrel, i noticed a problem from when barrel was manufactured, not centered evenly on all sides of , safety issue? are there knock offs or after markets out there with remington logos stamped on.

It's not that uncommon for the bore to be non-concentric with the exterior of the barrel......cut a barrel down and you will really see this......unless one wall is super thin, I wouldn't worry about it.....

Do you know if your barrel has been cut back? It isn't that common to have much variance at the original muzzle length. I have seen many barrel that were way out of whack when shortened. It is no big deal, mostly looks....

no ,manufactured short version replacement barrel, brand new .i wonder if remingiton just cut these barrels down from the longer versions they put out, its looking like this might not be that adnormal...

I own 2 Remington's one 1100 LT20g and another 870 SPS 12g 3 1/2 I bought last fall I too was disappointed with the quality of the Remington Barrel. After I purchased this gun new I cleaned the packing grease out of the barrel and the 2-3 inches just ahead of the forcing cone was not finnished. The circular machine marks were still in the barrel and I could could feel the marks with a wooden dowel. This is very poor quality. I Emailed Remington and they passed me onto The Gravel company in Quebec(Remington's reps in Canada) They told me this is common and for me to wait after the season if I liked and send the barrel back to them they would polish it out. I decided to polish it out myself using 0000 steel wool wrapped around a 20 gauge wire brush and fine lapping compound put this on a cleaning rod in a drill and polished away. It looks great now. POINT BEING REMINGTON QUALITY HAS GONE WAY DOWN HILL. All and All the gun works good but if the poor finish wasn't hid by the packing grease this guy would have never purchased the Remington.
