870-2 3/4 or 3"?

Hi everyone, just wondering: i have an old 870 Wingmaster(like 50 years old) and it has a 2 3/4 chambered barrel on it. i want to buy a short barrel with sights and was wondering if i could fire 3" shells in the new barrel(assuming it has a 3" chamber)? can i use an Express barrel or does it have to be a Wingmaster barrel?

If the barrel is truly chambered for 3 inch, you should not have any problems. AFAIK, any 2 3/4 or 3 inch barrel for an 870 should fit on another reciever. Only exception that comes to mind would be the 870 Special Field with the shorter than standard mag tube and coresponding barrel support ring. (3.5 inch and Norinco odd balls excluded)

If it is that old, the ejector would have to be replace for a 3" unit.

I have a 1957 Wingmaster too, and a 1987 870 Express too.

The barrel from the Express fits on the Wingmasterbut I can only use 2 3/4 - inch shells in it.
