870 +2 extension.

Hi

I would appreciate some info on 870 +2 extensions. Have a Remington Tactical Express with a stock +2 extension. What is the difference betwen a 1 piece extension and a 2 piece? Where can I get a 1 piece from?

It's not +1 or+2 piece, it's the number of extra rounds they hold.

No, I read about +2 extensions that are one piece and +2 extensions that are 2 pieces.

The factory Remington is a 2 piece design, the threaded collar that screws on to the tube is a separate part from the extension. 1 piece ones are usually aftermarket, mine is from TacOrd, a solid hunk of bar stock metal. It works well with the detent barrel rings. Would probably need a clamp if it was on an Express.

The advantage of the two piece design is that you're able to adjust it to have both tubes (the stock mag tube and the extension) butted up together perfectly, which reduces the chances of the follower, spring, or a shell catching on the joint. I actually prefer the Remington extension to the one piece extensions I've owned (such as TacStar and Wilson Combat) for this reason. Also one of the reasons why I prefer my 590 with full length mag tube to my 870's...

Well, I just learned something new. All of mine (+1 and +2) have been one piece.
