870 barrel/forend interference

Just put a Remmy smoothbore slug bbl on my 870 and when I open the action all the way the forend rubs on the barrel and locks up the motion. Just some delicate sandpaper work ?

One could only expect such close tolerances from a Remmy.

Was the original barrel a vintage blued one??

I had the same problem with an aftermarket forend on an 870 express with a new 18.5 barrel. Filed down the forend, it was synthetic, not wood. Took quite a bit off to get it to run smoothly but its fine now. Has run probably 500-1000 rounds with no issues.
