870 barrels?

hi their, i have an old 870 wingmaster with a poly choke and i was thinking of gettting a new rem 870 exress. will the barrel on them be interchangable??thanx

nope. Had one, tried it, didn't work, sold it.

I guess the answer is probably but it may not. I have mixed and matched 6different barrels between 4 different 870's ,two are EXPRESS 870, sometimes one barrel seems to need to be tightened a little tighter to lock it to the frame but they all have fit. Other people may not have had the same kind of luck. You may find you like your old 870 better that a new EXPRESS. The 870 WINGMASTER was made when people bought quality and it wasn't that expensive ,now they make them cheaper ( plastic, sand blast sort of parkerizing, not as well finished inside) to keep the price down, and they DO work but they are not the same.

Yes they are interchangeable, but the Express has an internal lock on the mag cap and the Wingmaster has an extrenal lock.

Also there is a ball detent on the regular barrels and none on the Express. This ball detent is to keep the cap tight on the regular (non -Express) system.
There are ways to get around this problem
