so, once i get my remington 870 express, im going to want to get some tactical stuff for it (dont worry guys, im keeping the 26 or 28"er for hunting and trap and what not) i want an 18.5" bbl. now im thinking that i could find a used 870 bbl and chop it down and recrown it (my self, so it wont cost an arm and a leg)
the other option is getting a mossberg 870 bbl. it is only $120ish from wholesale sports.
im thinking that if i do a chop job, it may be possible to get it threaded for a choke system (preferably remchoke for conviniance). this maybe be expencive, but it maybe worth it as i could use the 18.5" bbl for all the things i could use the longer one for.
what do you guys think?
these are just things i have been mulling over in my head.
thanks for you input.
Joe

Not all non tubed barrels can be fitted with the RemChoke or any tube system... measurements need to be taken of the individual barrel and then a decision made.

well, i was thinking about getting a mosberg 18.5" bbl.
the thing i was thinking about choping a bbl is if i got it threaded for chokes, it would be handy because i would not need to switch bbls, just chokes.

ok. i didnt know how fast it would be. the other thing i was thinking about was i would be able to use the 18.5" if i wanted to for clays (trap, skeet, i forget the names) or hunting if i felt so inclined and would still have the benefit of the choke.
meh, ill probly not bother. at least not at first.
i supose ill just worry about getting the gun first.
thanks,
Joe
