i just tried slipping my old 870 bolt and slide into my grizzly i just bought, and it binds so hard that it wont work, i tried cleaning and oiling both really good and it barely made a difference, are the bolts actually different? i was told all parts interchanged?

I think you'll have to be a bit more specific about when and where it is binding. Did you just drop the breach block onto the plate or changed the plate too?

Try working the action slowly to detect where the jam/friction is coming from. Also try taking the barrel off and work the action, it make be the lug/barrel interface.

you were told wrong: there are some minor dimensional differences between both. i keep posting that here over, and over again despite some people assuring everyone that everything will fit f:P:2:

for the record though - theres nothing wrong with the Grizzly bolt, nor is it wise to swap bolts between different guns made by different manufacturers indiscriminately.

In a perfect world where there are the smallest tolerances, everything would be swappable, but even within manufacturer or spec, it's not always possible to assume fitting is not required. One shouldn't drop a USGI 1911 barrel into a USGI slide and assume that the lugs fit fine for example.

With minor filing the bolt CAN fit. It depends on the way the castings form on your Dom Griz.

Have you a digital calliper on hand to verify the size differences?

So if it aint broke why put a 870 bolt in???????

The Rem 870 bolt is smoother and cycles little easier then the Dom arms bolt.

Compare the guns directly. Yes they'll do the same job but the Grizzly is rougher all around.

Reason why it cost so much less.....far less filing and other fitting time in the sweat sho..............factories.

My Griz bolt.

Pehaps I am misunderstanding you but you are depressing the latches as you place the other slide and bolt in right? Or is this a problem only with the Remington parts?

smooth cycling with the Grizzly actually has more to do with the rails and triggergroup than it does with the bolt.
as for the actual bolt - fire several boxes of shells and the stock bolt will smooth up just fine, both of my Grizzlies smoothed up just as much as my Express and 870P (not as much as a 20+ year old Wingmaster, but thats no surprise).

With minor filing the bolt CAN fit.
why on earth would you file an 870 Express bolt to fit a Grizzly?

Sorry didn't mean to imply the bolt being filed. The receiver inner walls is what I meant hah.

They were rather......not pretty when I got the gun. Can instantly tell its chinese made.

maybe you got a bad one?
im looking at my 8.5" Grizzly now beside an 870 Express and the milling on the inside of the receiver looks a bit better on the Grizzly, although this is subjective. the earlier model Grizzly i had (12.5" first gen) looked much better.

I've had my Griz since they first came out. Always possible a bad one. This is coming from a Norinco export company subcontracter after all. I've had 9 sks's now and fit finish has been from exellent to wtf were they smoking.

Always goes bang so I got no gripes.
