870 Buttstock fit 1100

No.

If you look at your 1100, you will notice a very long tube in the stock (to house the recoil spring) - completely different from the 870.

I kind of thougt they might be because the hole in the buttstock on the 870 is way larger then the bolt which holds it on. I guess this is to allow it to fit over the spring housing on the 1100/1187's.

Well, you learn something new everyday :p (this is good news)
Why don't companies advertise their 870 stocks as also fitting the 1100's?

The forends are different.

Yes, but I also find that a lot of stock manufactures sell stocks and fore ends seperately, so you think that they would make known that they are interchangeable. Numrich doesn't even list the 1100 and the 1187 stocks with the same part numbers, and I thought that these two were totally interchangeable?****EDIT**** Boys I just remembered that I had a hardwood buttstock kicking around off of an 870 express deer gun, so I thought I'd try her on my 1100. Well what do you know, she bolted right on 'er. Just like it was meant for it. Cool! That narrows down my search for a nice walnut monte carlo buttstock for the 'ol 70's vintage 1100. Look out clays!
