A friend of mine recently had a 870 express shotgun given to him. the gun is the tactical style with i think is an 18.5 inch barrel. he was thinking of getting a new barrel for it with the rem chokes so he could also shoot some clays with it. im not sure if other 870 barrels will match due to the tube length. or even if there is any aftermarket barrels out there for this gun. anybody have any insight on this?

pretty much any 870 barrel will fit it provided its the same gauge. its likely a 3" Magnum (AFAIK there arent any Super Magnums that come with 18.5" barrels but someone correct me if im wrong).
just search the EE, in exchange of parts and bits, for '870 barrel' and you should find dozens of results.
having a gunsmith thread his 18.5" barrel for chokes is also an option, but its probably a better value to pick up a ribbed hunting barrel for it for ~$150.
