I shoot right handed and my right eye is screwed do to shingles infection a few years back. I use scopes on all my rifles to assist. I gave up on my fully rifled barrel express barrel and went for my 26" barrel with an improved modified choke for deer with a truglo sight.

That works fine in low light conditions on deer with a large siloutte but I'm having alot of trouble with the turkey and other small game in the same light conditions. Although I got two turkeys this season but I wasn't happy with my shot placement.

I was thinking of getting rid of the slug barrel which I never use anyway and buying a cantiliver barrel with interchangable chokes so I can scope it properly. My current 26" barrel will likely collect dust soon also as I would not want to scope it.

My question is this, do they make a cantilever barrel with interchangable chokes in 870 express 26" and does anyone have experience with them? They seem big with the slug barrels but I want something all purpose that fits my vision needs.

As far as I know the cantilever barrels are all rifled for sabot slugs.I haven't heard of a smoothbore cantilever barrel with removable chokes but that doesn't mean they don't exist.Try checking the remington website.Hope this helps. Cheers Bac4

Never seen either. I think Truglo has some adjustable rifle sights might help. I know sx3 and some browning has the confirgure you're looking for...

Why not get the receiver drilled and tapped and put a red dot scope on?

I haven't had any experience with the red dot scopes. What can you tell me? I found the cantilever shot barrel 20" with interchangeable chokes but I can't find a Remington Dealer that will sell me one in the Greater Toronto area although I might get lucky at Lebarons tomorrow if I speak to there main gun guy. The only company I can find that has them is Midway and they don't sell to Canadians. Here is the barrel I am talking about in the following attachment.

Why not use a saddle mount instead? You can then put any barrel you want on, ie. smooth barrel or rifled, depending on your hunting situation.

Thanks for all the assistance and there were as usual very good suggestions, however I found the Cantilevered Rem Choke barrel I need through Lebarons in Markham Ontario and they will special order it in for me. I will likely keep my non cantilevered shot barrel for partridge etc and sell my fully rifled barrel.

Turns out Lebarons was useless in getting the required barrel however I got what I wanted through a Great Company called " THE GRAVEL AGENCY". They were very helpful. 20" barrel which included a rifled extended choke and an improved.
