870 Express deer

This gun comes with a rifled barrel obviously with slugs in mind can I get a smooth bore and hunt turkeys with shot in the spring that will fit in this gun?

IF you are looking for a true turkey one with the sites and screw in turkey choke the gunshop in new brunswick has a used one listed under barrels for 250 but he will normally take offers.

yes but the 3.5" turkey bbl. interchangable with the receiver but you cannot use 3.5 " shells. The forcing cone inside is correct, just the ejection slot is too narrow. Sounds weird, but this is the case in the Remington turkey/deer combo i bought in 2006.

fyi, i shot a few turkeys so far with 3" shells with zero misses.

Yes you can not use 3.5 shells on a receiver designed for shorter. I think it actually says that on many 3.5 barrels.

"...all 870 Express barrels interchangeable..." Yep. An 870 is an 870.
"...and hunt turkeys..." Buy a barrel with changeable chokes. Doesn't have to be made by Remington either. Cost you less.
As mentioned, no magnums on a standard receiver. Magnum receivers are built heavier.

870 gurus will tell you that magnum receivers are not built heavier but have a different ejector to kick out 3 inch hulls. The 3.5 action is different.
