I bought a 870 express in .410 like new condition 25" full choke vented barrel for my girlfriend as she doesnt like the recoil of my .12 it has the small buttstock on it but its still too long .. As there is no option on the market.. What do you think about cutting an inch at the buttstock ? There is enough wood to do it.. MAybe i'll have to sand the stock down and put a new clear as the clear will chip off when i'll cut it?

A wrap of masking tape around the approximate cut line ... then draw your cut line on the masking tape and make the cut through the tape. Use a fine blade with small teeth.
Helps a little in preventing chipping.

Normally I would say it is just an express stock so cut away but this one is a 410 express which keep their value for resale and are not hard to sell
First are you sure it has the youth stock on it that is quite a bit shorter and can be bought for like 50 bucks or have you looked for another stock to cut and keep yours original
Any small frame 870 will work on the 410
Once it is cut the value probally goes to half on this gun if you ever wanted to sell it
I would take some time and have a good look around prior to hitting this one with the saw and check the length of the youth stocks say epps sells for the LW 870's
Just my 2 cents
Cheers

Regular LOP is 14" on the .410. 13" would indicate a youth model but I don't know if the small gauge Express guns 28 and .410 were offered in youth. IIRC only 20 gauge and 16 gauge Express models were offered in youth sized stocks. Yours @ 13" plus the gap to the trigger should be a 14" lop.

The buttstock is 13 inches, i think thats the length of the small frame 870

So you don't have a youth stock on it. That would be my first plan of attack is to find a youth stock and fit it and keep the original stock as is in case you ever want to sell the gun
To my knowledge any vintage small frame LW stock even 20ga LW will fit but I have never tried one of the new plastic ones Epps sells for 48 bucks in youth. Call and ask them
If not if I recall correctly even an old 760, 740, 7600 or 7400 rifle stock will fit which the small frame shotguns which should not be hard to pick up used and reasonable for pricing if you want to cut something
Cheers
