870 - though the Benelli is good, it's easier to get parts and accessories for the 870. If the Benelli should break, I'm not sure that there are parts out there. There are well over 10 million 870's out there, there will always be parts available.

Is it the 870 tactical with the mag tube extension or the longer one piece mag tube? The longer one piece limits what barrels you can swap on as the lug is in a different place than the standard length mag tube.
Super Nova 18.5", 3.5" chamber (not that you need it), shell lifter stays down when loading (very convenient), mini shells not an issue (niche application, admittedly), nice ghost ring sights, the comfortech shock and butt pad work well, built like a tank overall, 10-yr warranty, and the original design inspired by 870. The 870 may look better overall cosmetically. Go with your heart as they do the same thing, obviously.
Buy the current REMARMS models, their fit and finish are much better than their previous management.
I love Benelli but the thing is the bolt release on the supernova for lefty like me on the right handed model is harder to reach than 870 as I remember. But their speed model fixed that issue but obviously it has longer barrel.
I would stick to 870 just because that and there are way more parts.

Umm… there are currently minimal parts available for the 870 unless you look for used parts and even those are scarce. I can’t find an ejector or ejector spring anywhere (yes, I’ve seen the one in the EE). Agree with the aftermarket support though.
I need an ejector, not extractor. My point though is that even with RemArms making 870s again current parts availability should there be an issue is minimal. That should be considered by the OP when making the decision which shotgun to buy.
Parts should be available again in the future but the factory currently is not making spare parts available. I would assume that parts for warranty work would be different though.

I’d take the 870 over the supernova, way more aftermarket support.
I own both a few 870s as well as two benelli supernova tac with 14 inch barrel and adjustable stock Iam an 870 guy by heart but the benelli is one hell of a shotgun I may sell the second supernova tac I purchased for a departed girlfriend but definatly keeping one
Well I went with a rem 870 police with rifle sights and 18 inch barrel from nordic marksman 15 percent off so that is good......and also bought a benalli supernova with ghost rings and 18 inch barrel lol...happy Canada day for me l!

I can’t see any fault in deciding to buy both, it’s always the right choice.
I thought the same thing. Looking forward to seeing which one rings the gong better at 100 yards
