Hey all,

so I ordered a remington 870 express tactical (the one with the tacticool choke and GR sights) only to get a call saying they were sold out and could take anywhere from 3-6 months. Does anyone know of anywhere that carries these without a price that's out to lunch?

Wholesale is a joke show! I ordered a rifle to be sent from edmonton to saskatoon and that was 4 months ago! They still havnt gotten it in yet. If nosale dosnt have it on the shelf good luck getting it did you try cabales for the shotty?im not too farmiliar with whats in calgary

Last time I talked with Cabela's in Edmonton they had one there. However....they won't ship from that store. You have to go and pick it up. If you call the 800 number, they only ship from out east somewhere. I wound up finding a great deal for one on the EE and have upgraded it since. Good luck...I spent almost a month trying to get one in Calgary.

P&D Enterprises had one when I talked with them last... ;)

I agree on the 870 Police Model if it fits within your budget. If not, I would pick up an older Wingmaster over an Express model any day. The "tactical" isn't by any means a better variant of the Express, it just has different features.

+1 for an older wingmaster.

The tactical does have a breaching break that constantly loosens off, a top rail that loosens and doesn't stay true and XS sights that fail during firing. Also a plastic trigger group too! :puke:

The one thing this model has that I haven't seen anywhere else is that the barrel is 18.5" AND pre-threaded for chokes. I haven't seen that anywhere else for a barrel that size, seems like a big plus to have those options for controlling patterns. I wonder why Remington doesn't sell that barrel separately??

The fact that the tactical came with a threaded barrel was the main reason I picked that model. All the other comments concerning quality are Very true! My rail came loose and the front sight lost its white insert. Remington even disallowed my mail in rebate because I wouldn't send them my Original sales receipt. It will be the last product of their's that I purchase.

There are 18" barrels that are not threaded for chokes. My question would be what why a screw on choke is needed on a "tactical" shotgun?

We run 870's with 14-20" barrels. I don't see a place or requirement for screw on chokes. If you choose your ammunition carefully, there isn't a need for chokes.

Forget about the use of the word 'tactical', but why not have the option for the variety of screw on chokes?? Less reliant on particular ammo for controlling pattern then, theoretically. The more options and variety the better I say. :shotgun:
