Does a 20 gauge Remington 870 use the same furniture as a standard 12 gauge? Or are the sizes different?

They are different.

Some early 20 ga 870's were built on a large frame/12 ga frame and they interchange, but most of the time do not.

As KB said. Older are 12ga stocks. New are slim profile 7400/7600 size.
