Does anybody else really like the unique swirly look of laminate stocks? I understand hardwood is.. nicer? But something about laminate looks visually pleasing to me.

Also I’m starting a wingmaster project over winter and a refinished wood stock set might be the ticket but I’m having a hard time deciding what to get. Anybody have a source for the 870 laminate stock sets? Preferably like new.

Not an 870, but I bought a Boyd's Pepper Laminate stock and forend for a Mossberg 590A1. I love it. Highly recommend it. Matches the tone of the Ruger Gunsite Scout almost perfectly. It's just a tiny bit more matte / less gloss, but you'd have to side-by-side compare them to notice.

I had previously tried to use a 12 gauge Dominion Arms Grizzly Mag, and ordered the boyd's stock and forend for that - but the magwell interfered with the forend. Ended up selling the shotgun and stock set seperately

You'll note I forgot to order checkering for the stock with the Grizzly. I far prefer it with checkering, so if you do order from Boyd's don't forget that bit if you want it.

One quick edit - I mixed up which was more vs less gloss - edited in the post above. The Ruger gunsite scout stock is a bit more gloss, the Boyd's is a bit more matte. But very close. Otherwise, the exact same colouration.

Keep your eye open on Dlask’s website, I picked up a nice factory Rem laminate set from my 870 for $75-79 iirc. They’re were new take of sets from their 870 shorty builds.

I’ve been watching their site and I haven’t seen them yet. The boyd stocks are really nice but still not quite the colour I’m after.

It was a few years ago now, I think all they have left is hardwood take offs, although it wouldn’t hurt to call and see if they have any hiding in the back. They’ve come through for me like that with a synthetic police forend in the past.

Oh good idea, I’ll give them a call tomorrow.

Well yeah.. that’s where you said to look no?

Well 18 colour options and six stock options left me wondering as something there for most any taste.

I have a 870P stock set with a ugly piece of bland wood that won’t tKe a stain that is going to get the custom Krylon rattle can treatment.

Have the Boyd’s Camo On my 20 gauge and no complaints.

Yeah like I said. They look great but still not quite what I’m after.

I’m hoping to obtain something close to this and short of finding a commercial one I will be stripping it and trying a little woodwork over the winter.

Try Calling SJ hardware in belleville i’m sure they’d ship to you Simeon Does 870 Builds and usually has lots of 870 parts kicking around
