I had a few quiet moments today, and got looking at my 870 Police with the top folder. I had a 6 shot sidesaddle handy, so I decided to mount it to the folder. I know it is nothing new, but it went amazingly easy. I simply mounted the backing plate of the side saddle on the folder and drilled 2 holes through it and through the folding stock. I countersunk the ones on the backing plate so the bolts would sit flush, and then I mounted the sidesaddle to the backing plate with the hardware that came with sidesaddle. The good thing about this is the sidesaddle can still be removed and remounted conventionally on a shotgun, as I did not use or damage the threaded holes which you normally use to mount the sidesaddle.
Oh yeah, the gun isn't much to look at, but I have it set up as a field gun. I coated the original wood forend with truck bedliner, as it was really beat up and not worth refinishing. I also added a 2 shot extension. It works great, and if I scratch it, I don't feel so bad.
