Would like to buy a 870 Police Marine finish for the wet weather, but I don't like the silver finish. Is it possible to cerakote green or black?

Cheers

Just save some cash and buy a non marine shotgun if you want to cerakote. Its a great corrosion inhibitor and doesn't need the marine finish to protect your shotgun so you can buy an express or police for less. The parkerizing on the P should be gtg for arma-coat applied directly over it. Arma-coat blasts then parkerizes steel before they apply the coating for the best protection. Cerakote prep is to blast then apply coating without park. The marine finish would just get blasted anyways and may or may not come off but either way both Arma and Cera do what the marine finish does.

The now discontinued XCS version of the 870 Marine has a dark finish, if you can find one. The XCS wears a black PVD coating over electroless nickel plating like the regular Marine model.

Cerakoting or nitriding a non Marine 870 are good options.

Parkerizing is also good to go, if its been properly "seasoned" with heavy grease.

My wife has one of those with walnut police furniture, I took it fly fishing for a week once. Never touched it with oil, it was flawless at the end. It had been submerged completely several times, morning dew, and rained on too. If you can find one that'd be a great option.

Or send it down to Robar and get the NP3® PLUS finish. I’ve got NP3 (not even the NP3 Plus) on some of my guns and it’s unreal - slick and easy to clean (a simple wipe):
NP3® PLUS HAS ALL THE SELF LUBRICATING ATTRIBUTES OF OUR ORIGINAL NP3® FIREARM FINISH.

However, NP3® PLUS offers far more corrosion resistance for marine and other hostile environments. Firearms and other equipment gain up to five times as much corrosion resistance over standard NP3® and up to ten times more than regular electroless nickel!

NP3® PLUS is an excellent choice for protecting all firearms deployed in wet environments.
This includes shipboard operations and environments where there is frequent exposure to rain, salt spray and high humidity.
