870 pump release extension mod???

I've noticed that when it comes to comparing shotguns, most people hate on the position of the pump release on the 870. Has anyone ever made an extension for it that would have pressuring being applied to the release button from the other end of the trigger guard?

Kind of hard to describe what i mean in words...so here is a simple picture

The red bar/thing is attached to the existing slide release and that way pressure can be applied from the front of the triggerguard to release slide.

im sure that some one with a decent machine shop could possibly make something that's all one piece of metal.

Either way its on my list of gun projects, so hopefully i can get working on it and get some pictures up

I was actually thinking almost the same thing but I envisioned it more running along the bottom of the trigger guard sort of like how you would open a Thompson Center break action rifle.

If you make a mod and it works, I will buy one off you!
 
that would be a pretty sweet mod to make.

on a side note, does this have any other use other than racking the shotgun a few times to make sure there are no shells in it?
 
Slim pickins on the Internet but I did find this which looks great. If anyone has the skill to make this, I would buy it for sure* (*also depending on price).

well when you consider that racking the pump is how a pump action shotgun operates...i would say it's pretty handy
