I picked up an 870 police in polished blued finish. I was surprised that the carrier was a matte finish. Anyone know if these originally came in polished stainless to match the bolt like a wingmaster? Can you buy aftermarket polished stainless carriers? I can't see any on the parts sights.

If you bought an earlier model blued Police Magnum, it is likely that the original chrome bolt and chrome lifter were replaced with an improved bolt to take advantage of the flex tab lifter system.
This new version has a section cut out at the bottom of the bolt to give the shell rim additional space to cycle. Does your lifter have the ‘U shape’ slit cut into it?
The slide would also be different with an extra notch and so would the forend slide assembly bars.
Though an improved version chrome bolt can be had, or machined from earlier versions, I’ve never seen a chrome lifter with the flex tab to match. So likely, REM ships blued shotguns with matte bolts and lifters if your Police Magnum is indeed a newer, recent model.

You can hire someone to hard chrome the existing one. I’d like to see REM offer chromed carriers. I like the classic chrome and wood myself.

So I've been on a renewed interest kick of 870's and was comparing LOP measurements on the ones I have. The '76 Wingmaster Magnum measures 13.75", the 86 Express 14", and the 2018 Police Magnum is 14.25" (with factory R3/limbsaver). All 3, to my knowledge, are uncut with the factory butt pad. Now I'm wondering if the '76 Wing is in fact factory correct. The wood measures 13" and the brown webbed Remington pad measures .75". Any 870 wingmaster experts out there know if this sounds right?
