Quick question... is it normal for the large receiver pin on an 870 to have a little play to it? I'm able to move it in and out about a mm. Or is it supposed to be tight fitting like the smaller pin?

Yep, mine is about the same so I suppose its normal. It doesn't move itself while shooting, but I can easily push it in and out a bit with just my finger.

Should be snugger than that...but it aint a problem unless it can easily move out it's detent position. Likely a pin/receiver from grossly different production....or late model anything from Remmy......

Not really.

The receiver has practically nothing to do with pins ability to be slid through.

The trigger assembly holes have little springs on them. Look at the receive pins. The notch on them is held by the spring. If you have a weak spring or missing a spring, that is likely the reason the pin can walk out.
