Yes upgrade. You get a life time of use out of the 870.

Are we talking Express 870 or Wingmaster? If the Express, then the 88 owns it in finish and reliability. The 88 has a screw in bead where the Express is pressed in and needs to be drilled and tapped to change. The 88 also has a steel trigger guard wright? Where the Express is plastic.

The mav 88 has a plastic trigger gaurd. To be honest, mine seems to be holding up just fine
