870 scope mount ????

Scope mount

I definitely prefer the remington saddle mount, it has a see through channel under it that is a pretty good backup sight for close up. It mounts securely and the trigger plate pins are changed for screws. No drilling and tapping and a good solid mount. Cost was about 60 dollars with taxes if I remember corectly. If you get a smith to drill and tap it will cost you that much anyway.
 
If it is going to be a slug gun only, go with drill and tap. If it is also going to be a wingshooter, go with the receiver mount.

X2 I have the saddle mount myself and love it. The scope is a bit high though, but no big deal. Taking on and off is easy. Leave the scope on the mount, and when you go to change over to the mount, surprisingly the shots are fairly close to where you had them before.
 
i have a weaver side mount that looks cool and its very solid. same as the other but this one is 2 piece so you can leave the side plate on it you wish by removing 2 thumb screws so just the scope and the top of the mount is removed. very close to being zerod after removing the scope and replacing.

you'll see what i mean in the pic...

btw it was 53.99 at the local shop and he usually charges high prices. think you can get em for $35 or so at other places ;)

I've got the Leupold saddle mount on my Marine Magnum, looks awsome and works great, very easy install and haven't had a problem with it in three years. Mostly used for 3-gun, pin matches and some rabbit duty! I've got a holosight mounted on it and the only thing I'd recomend is either a comb raising kit or a new rear stock that's higher. Have a good one!
 
i had mine drilled and tapped but wish i would have got saddle bracket because i remove the scope after deer season and have to keep sighting her in.:mad:
