870 Slide won't lock forward

Never had this issue before -- everything was fine and then I realized the slide wouldn't lock forward when cycling a new round (won't do it dry cycling it either). Trigger can't be pulled/doesn't fire, and it looks like the slide release 'button' is also not fully extended...

What should I look at?

Is it the trigger group or something with the action bars?

It went from working, then not working for a couple rounds, then working again then kaput ...

Help!

Verify the locknut for the forend is tight. Seen those back off then the action wont lock properly.

NICE, it was SUPER loose, tightened and problem solved!!!

I did have the wherewithwal to check the magazine tube nut for tightness, but did not even think about the forend ...

No problem. After fixing a few for some friends.. all the same issue pretty much.
