870 Slug loads

Just purchased an 870 SPS Super Mag. Camo 23" smoothbore Cantilever barrel. I am hoping you guy's could save my shoulder a bit and let me know what works best. Thanks

Brennekke are hard to beat in most smooth bores. Try a few of all brands (fostertype, no sabots) you will find one the gun likes.

Well deffets the purpose of camo, but everyone has been recommending the Knoxx stocks to me. Cuts the recoil to 50%. I practice with 2 3/4 skeet shells, saves the arm. Then carry what you really need on your hunt.

For the number of times you will shoot the gun in a hunting situation don't worry about the recoil. I know it will be a little sore sighting in all those rounds but if you space it out over a number of days then you have a number of days shooting, much better than one. With a smooth bore look into attached wad slugs, either Brenneke or Challenger, I shot a deer with the Challengers this year and another guy in our group got 2, no problems there. I have an 870 Super Mag with 23" barrel and use an improved choke and Challengers and have no problem hitting what I want at 50 yards.

Both the Winchester Power Point 2 3/4" 1oz 1700fps slugs and 3" 1 3/8oz Rottweil Brenneke's shoot and cycle well for me.
