I just traded synthetic stocks with a guy on here. Mine was a hogue, his a speedfeed. My stock bolt is shorter and his is longer. I also just got a new walnut remington stock set from numrich in the mail today. It was to replace a wood rem stock. The stock bolts on these two wood Remington stocks are different lengths also.

So, in my very limited experience with 870's I have now encountered 4 different lengths of stock bolt. I went to Brownells to order some and there are two lengths listed on the parts diagram.

WTF??

Many times, after-market stocks are supplied with their own stock bolt if they differ from from the factory length.

all I can say is if you are trading, bolts go with the stocks. If you are buying, ask the manufacturer. It's really silly.

yeah. I'm hoping to put a database of sorts together.

the one from my norico was 6mm.
the one for my ar adaptor wa 1/4 NF.

norincos was a long slotted bolt that with the shims is 6.5 inch long.
the ar is 1.75 inch.

whats the Houge one?

An old memory comes back.

It seems as though some stocks were sold that fit both the 870 and 1100. But because the original stocks bolt to the receiver differently, the stock came with a longer bolt that completed the conversion to the 870.

The Hogue is 6" long with a bolt head. You need a really long extension on a socket to install.

The old Remington wood is 10.5" long. It is a beach stock with press checkering and a comb.

The new Remington walnut I just bought is shorter than 10.5 but I don't know how much yet until I make a spacer for in there.

The Speedfeed is longer than 6" but I don't know by how much yet
