Hey guys....after shooting and reloading centerfire for 16 years I have finnally bought a shotgun for clays/coyote/bird hunting. I just have a couple of questions regarding ammo.

1) best choke/ammo choice for coyotes.
2) best choke/ammo for turkeys.
3) best ammo/choke for ducks/geese/crows/ravens.
4) best ammo/choke for casual clays.

Remember, I'm new so I'm not into super specialized stuff or spending money on gun mods ect. I just need an idea what a good choice would be for each.

Remember it is a super so 3 1/2" chamber with a 28' pipe.

Thanks guys.

Best choke really depends on the range you are shooting, and how your particular gun patterns it. Especially when we are talking an aimed shot like a coyote or turkey.

Ammo i would reccomend for the coyote would be #4 buck if you can find it, or some guys are using lead BB.

Turkeys, i havent hunted, but there are all sorts of specialized loads for them. Find the one you and your gun like best.

IF it is combo ducks and geese, i use a #2 steel, which will bring down the geese over decoys, but will not smash a duck to smithereens at decoy range either. If you are just after geese, BB is my preference, others will say T. Just ducks, i would use a #4.

Crows, ravens and pheasant, use something like a #5 or #6 in a 2 3/4" lead and you will drop them all day long.

For the smaller upland, #6 should be fine too.

For casual clays, i keep it cheap and buy the winchester bulk feild and range loads, $20 for 100 #7 1/2 shot.

i can easily answer all 4 questions for ya...

whatever patterns good in YOUR gun applies to all situations below ;)

1)nothing smaller than BB
2)x-full
3)improved to full depending on type of shooting
4)improved

nobody can answer what loads will work best in your gun because what shoots nice tight uniform patterns with my gun might throw a scattered pattern full of holes in yours. the only way to know is to buy a bunch of different loads and pattern them. its a good idea to get a couple buddies to do the same so each of you can try each others loads.

Here's what I recommend/use. YMMV.

1) Dead Coyote/Dead Coyote HeviShot
2) Carlson Xfull/Winchester Supreme Turkey #6
3) Modified/steel BB(geese) #2 steel (ducks)
4) Sorry don't shoot clays :D

Best of luck finding the best combos for your particular shotgun.
