I'm looking for some advice for mounting a light to my 870. I want to get a Fenix TK21 light or something similar, and a CDM Mod C clamp but had a few concerns. The guy at the local gunshop said that a barrel/mag tube clamp wouldn't be able to hold the weight of the light under recoil, and would just end up scratching up the finish as it slides around.
Is this true? He said my best bet would be to get a railed forend but I don't really like how they look or feel. Have any of you ever had problems with barrel / mag tube clamps sliding around or have any suggestions on how I should go about mounting the light?
