So I just made my first firearms purchase, an 870 tacticool errr... I mean highly practical camp gun :D

It currently has a pistol grip only and I'd like a top folder (can't stand the side folders for some reason). As far as I see the only options are a used Remington original LEO, the fugly Choate folder which isn't really an option and the Knoxx SpecOps. Are there any others worth mentioning? So far I'm thinking Knoxx.

I have an original Leo top folder. It is deffinatly built tough and does its job.
They are bulky, noisey and they tend to damage the blueing on the top of your barrels.
2 3/4 shells are a pleasure to shoot with these folders however.... 3 inch and up are hard on the shoulder and kind of ruins the fun.

I don't know which one I'd recommend, I'm just giving you my opinion on the Leo folders.

Knoxx copstock...you can still use sights on the barrel with this.

Plus it has the knoxx recoil absorbtion. I have this stock on my 870 and im pleased with it compared to other folders. Not perfect, but a good compromise.
