870 Wingmaster for all around use???

Having a cute wife helps at gun shows.......

Barring that, I guess 400 is a better estimate.

I sold mine for $600.

Given your budget and other guns you have considered, I really don't think you can go wrong with a Wingmaster Magnum 28". You would have loved mine for $600 shipped but its gone.

Well it may be your one gun for all purposes but it sure isn't mine. I have had 2 of them and wouldn't buy another. But for a new shooter they would be fine.

It is "a gun" for all purposes, and a very good one, but not necessarily "THE gun."

I like the 870 and have owned several. An 870 was my first shotgun, I've always had at least one and as of this morning I have another one on the way.

I wouldn't feel hard done by if all I had was an 870 but were I to have only one gun for all purposes it would be a Beretta 391 or perhaps a Benelli M2 if I did more hunting than target shooting.

Fair enough, everyone has there own opinion, but what i meant was simply the numbers don't lie. It will do everything well, there is nothing you can't do with it, and (aside from a few bad apples) they are almost indestructable, and about as reliable as a shotgun can be.

This may not be the gun for everyone, but for the OP's budget he could buy a 20 year old wingmaster and use it for 20 more years and then sell it for the same price paid.

I have held both the Mossberg 930 and Stoeger 2000, I cant stand the fit/finish on these cheaper synthetic guns. Benelli and Beretta are way nicer fit/finish wise. I feel my money would go a longer way if I buy the best pump gun out there. I had a Browning BPS but it didnt fit me at all, I need more drop at comb and heel like these 4 have.
It's clear you are a man of taste and distinction. :)

Buy the Wingmaster and enjoy.

The 870 will do anything you ask it to. No snob appeal to it just a working firearm that does its job.

If I were you I would go with a 28 in barrel with remchoke.

JMHO
