Anyone know what parts are needed to use regular profiled 870 barrels?Would changing out the hardware on the pump slide give the needed clearance?Or is the receiver smaller as well.I want to buy a 14" barrel for bears.

Well it has a deluxe high gloss finish,30 " barrel with a silver mid bead and ivory front + screw in chokes.Barrel marked light contour in 12ga 3"........M at the end of the serial #'s and both sides of the receiver profusely engraved?Remington 870 marked.95 stamped on the left side of the barrel chamber. Not marked Wingmaster but too nice to be a Express? Also vent rib.

Can you put a Model 870 magnum barrel on an 870 Super Magnum firearm?

Question
Can you put a Model 870 magnum barrel on an 870 Super Magnum firearm?

Answer
You can put a 12 gauge Model 870 magnum barrel on a Model 870 Super Magnum. Please note that you would be limited to using up to 3" shells with the magnum barrel.

Super Magnum barrels can be used on non-magnum receivers. You should shoot up to 3" shells in this combination also.

I am not sure what you are asking
You don't have a LW receiver you have a light contour 870
Any old 12ga barrel from a regular 12ga receiver will fit your gun even the 14" but the barrel you have on your gun is a different diameter ( smaller) so your fore end will have to be opened to accept the larger diameter barrel. I have went the other way and put LC's on old guns and the forearms are sloppy but will work
Not sure if that helps or not
Cheers

This is what I was wondering but there is not enough wood to open up the barrel channel ,so I will require a standard forend and hardware to be able to switch back and forth.

That is possible. I have went the other way and the slot was way too big but never tried an old style barrel on a factory light contour gun so not sure
Hardware will be the same but yes easier and quicker to have two sets and not hard to find used
Cheers

OP,
IF,you plan to purchase a Remington TAC14 12ga Bbl to fit your standard 12ga receiver it will not work as the Bbl lug location is closer to the receiver on the 14" Bbl.

An 18" cut down to legalities is your only option.

The opposite applies w/ a Remington 870 Tactical as the Bbl lug is closer to the muzzle since the Tactical has a longer magazine tube compared to a standard length 870.

The LW 870 receivers are 20ga,28ga & 410ga as of the mid 80's.
The receivers are 1/8" narrwoer than an 870 12/16ga.
