I bought an 870 WM. Nice gun; however, when I rack the slide and pull the trigger, no click. Nothing at all happens. I took the trigger group out and it seems to function. I put it back in and it works ONCE. I rack it again and nothing.

Any ides?

Thanks,

Bob

This is probably the problem. The forward tip of the left connector is likely UNDER the rear tail of the slide latch. It should be over. Remove the trigger group. Look closely at the left side top. You will see the slide latch (the thingy that allows you to open the action without firing) It is located in close proximity to the left connector. Be sure the latch tip is closest to the trigger plate and the connector is on top of it. TEST press the slide latch up with your finger if it raises another small part you are good to go.

Daryl,

I tried this. I took the trigger group out and uncocked it. I put it back in uncocked, worked the slide and took it out. I was cocked. So it is cocking, just not releasing.

Remove the trigger group and take the safety off. Restrain the hammer with your thumb and pull the trigger. See if the hammer falls as it should (under restraint) I still feel it is a connector issue.

I think my initial diagnosis is the issue. Check the function of the slide lock. Push it in and out and watch the tail of it raise and lower. Make sure the connector is over it not under it. (the slide lock tail). Anything else will require the attention of a smith.

It turned out the fore stock was loose enough to work it's way forward. When the nut was tightened it pulled the barrel forward enough so the barrel did not seat properly. Smith tightened it up and away we go.

Thanks for the help.
