I love 870's. I only have one but I think that it is the cats arse. You can do pretty much anyting with them, i.e. clays, waterfowl, upland game, big game, 3 gun matches the list goes on. Also you can customize them in any fashion, hunting & tacticool.

These are well made firearms (I know people will flame me about the express's but i've yet to have an issue) and you just cannot beat the awesomeness of a pump shotty (even though I thoroughly enjoy my sxs as well).
 
Only one myself(just got it in the mail yesterday), a black synthetic Express(not Supermag though). I can't wait until I finally get a day off and can go and shoot it.
 
Yup, I own several also. My son also enjoys his left handed 870. IMHO the perfect balance between cost, utility and performance. What in the world is a side by side?;)
 
I don't tend to accumulate guns so I'm currently at one 870 with a couple of barrels. Over the years I have owned:

Wingmaster 28" 12 gauge
Wingmaster 28" 20 gauge
Wingmaster 25" 28 gauge
Wingmaster Skeet 26" 20 gauge
SPS 28" 12 gauge
Express, 12 gauge, 20" rifle sights
Brushmaster, 12 gauge 20" rifle sights
Police 18.5" bead, cyl, blued
Police 14" bead, cyl, parkerized
Police 18.5" rifle sights, IC, parkerized

A SxS is a gun with 2 barrels attached "side by side"

But with your attitude you are not ready for one yet. At this point you are happy with cheap Pump guns that don't handle well.
Don't worry though, sooner or later you "may" be ready for something that institutes pride of ownership and great handling characteristics.
Until you reach this point try and be happy with what you shoot.

looking at the black super mag for the daughter in a 26 inch barrel..............i had an 870 when i was younger and loved it..............heard rumors that they are made cheaper now and have alot of probs.............you fellows have any imput on this?

After a wonderful outing with a fine side by side, I like to sit back with a glass of cognac by a roaring fire and say, can you please pass me the Grey Poupon!!!
 
Whoa! Did you side by side snobs not see my 'smiling face' next to my post? By the way, the next time you point at something, did you use two fingers 'side by side' or a single finger? I rest my case.
