Interesting Andy, and possibly quite handy for me at the moment. Is this a general rule with 30-06 vs 8mm recipes, or with the specific powders mentioned? (assuming similar strong actions, of course).
This is a rule of thumb that applies to all cartridges in the same family (e.g. those based on 308, 30/06, 7x57, etc.) The 8mm-06 is simply a 30/06 necked up. The larger bore size reduces pressure over the 30/06, so you can safely use 30/06 loads. You could actually add a couple of % more powder, but then you're guessing.
Oops! Misread the original question, my apologies. I have some some 30-06 loads, and some same weighted .323 bullets for my 8mm that I need to work up loads for.
