I would like to know if any of you have a load work up with H4831? That is with 175 grain bullets.

Sorry. I've owned both 8mm-06 and 8mm-06 AI rifles, and never used 4831 (or similar burning rate powders) with any bullets lighter then 185 gr. Try 4350 or 4895. - dan

The 8mm-06 i own i use imr4064. The reason i asked was to find out if any tried.Thanks for the reply.

H4831, is a bit slow for the 8mm-06. 4064, is a better choice.

I recall 338-06 data (Nosler?) that had RL19 as one of the highest velocity powders with 200gr bullets. H4831 is close to burn rate, and the 8mm-06 is a bit more overbore than the 338-06, so it should work ok. Maybe not with the lighter 175gr? Might be worth a try

It isn't that it doesn't work, you simply won't get the bullet speeds the cartridge is capable of. - dan

H4831 is OK with 190+ grain bullets but if your going to shoot lighter stuff, 4064 is better. x2 db.

Darn good cartridge.

What kind of velocities were you guys getting with your rifles.

In a standar K98 rechambered bbl:

2350 fps with H4831 under 220 grain Norma bullets

2900 fps with 4064 under 150 grain Hornady bullets
