I have this nice little rifle that my Dad gave me that I would like a little info about. The gun is still over at my parents place, so this is from memory. It has a "BRNO" stamp and some text (Czech I assume). Looks like, from the pics I've seen here, a standard Mauser action. It has a flip up rear sight (100 and 300 m), built in weaver mounts and an adjustable dual "hair" trigger set up. It has the 7.9 stamp on the barrel also. I'll probalby pick up the gun in a few weeks and will post some pics then. I'm not looking to sell, just would like a little info on it.

I have one, mine is a Mod. 22F, that is the full-stock version.
The half-stock is a Mod. 21 H I believe.
If yours is marked 7.92 that will be 8mm.Mauser aka 8x57mm.
You can PM me if you have any more questions and I'll try and help.
They were very well made rifles and are quite sought after, thus making it a worthy acquisition.

They began to import them after WW2, an extremely well made and sleek rifle. I've owned three of them but in moments of temporary insanity I sold them. Still make them now but nowhere near the quality of the early ones. If yours has a round top kind of knurled action it is a real early one as the models from the early fifties had dovetailed actions for Brno scope mounts. Don't be a bonehead like me and hang onto it.

Just to add to the above - in all likely hood it is likely built on a small ring, standard lenght Mauser 98 action. --- John S.

"...Was the dual trigger..." Set triggers are a hunting rifle thing. Not used on battle rifles.
"...Czech I assume..." Yep. BRNO made K98's were/are better than German made K98's. Even the war time rifles. Mind you, the BRNO plants weren't being bombed every day and night either.

I believe the double set triggers & a butter knife bolt handle on the 21's are far more common than a single trigger and "normal" nob bolt handle. They also came in two barrel lenghts 21" carbine & 23.5" rifle. The calibres available were 6.5, 7, 8, 9.3x57 & 7x64 as far as I can remember. FWIW --- John303.

Congrats on a very very fine rifle!!!! I have 3 and love em all. They are one of the finest made Mauser type sporters ever produced. PM me if you need help finding scope rings. CZ have there own rings which are very good and not too expensive. Enjoy!!!!!!

I have two Brno's, a 21H 7x64 and a 22F 7x57. I'm sure you will like yours. They are very well made and have sleek proportions. The amount of skilled hand fitting for the stock and metal work is very obvious if you look closely.
