Haha, that's funny, I took the last box of 8mm saturday... I wanted to order more but they had only one left. I wanted rough use knifes too so I ordered anyway...

Sorry for you!

And, no, 8x57 JS wont blow your gun in your face, that's the same good old 8mm.

Here is what wikipedia has to say about this cartridge:
The 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge is also known by the following designations:

7.92×57mm
7.92mm Mauser
7.92, 7.92mm, 7.92-mm
Cartridge SA, 7.92
7,9, 7,9mm[9]
8 × 57 IS
8 × 57 JS
8×57mm
8mm Mauser

The letter "J" often mentioned by English speaking sources is actually an "I" for Infanterie (German for "infantry"). A stamped "I" at the cartridge bottom in writing styles used in the past in Germany could be easily mistaken for a "J". Even in the 21st century the "I" is often substituted by a "J" in English speaking communities and German ammunition manufacturers often write "JS" instead of "IS" to avoid confusing customers. The letter "S" stands for Spitzgeschoß ("pointed bullet"), and the English designation "spitzer" for that style of bullet is derived from this German term.

SFRC is out of stock too.

The best price I saw:

Marstar.ca
Prvi Partizan 8mm Mauser Brass FMJ 198grs. Boxer primed. 19.50$

i was looking at the 1 box at canada ammo for 2 days but didnt buy it i want more then one box haha but i called today and canada ammo getting more in before the end of the month hopefully

I shoot a little 8mm though my G43 and some K98. I have shot various North American brands in 170 grains, and European 196/197gr from Norma and S&B and also RWS 1937 Heer military surplus. Open litarature says that North American 8mm Mauser is down loaded compared to European makes and that is of course true. I have had no problems firing Norma and S&B through my guns. Just to give you an idea i have put a crony to it, and this is what i got on average:
Remington 8mm Mauser #R8MSR, 170gr, Core-Lokt SP: 2360 fps
NORMA #18020, 8X57 JS 196gr (12.7g) Soft Point VULKAN: 2526 fps
S&B no. 2945, SP, 196 gr: 2591 fps
1934 Heer service round, RWS, surplus, 197 gr: 2493 fps.

I hope this reassures you.
Cheers,

budget shooter supply has some milsurp 8mm. The cases are non re loadable but the tips are jacketed lead ( not steel core ). comes out to about 55 cents a pop.
